I really love this sculpture. The female spirit who has taken it as her vessel is sometimes eerie/spooky. She has a powerful presence, but this is a gentle, benevolent spirit. The name she is known by is Aponi. This is the name Maggie gave this spirit. She pronounced it " Ah PONY". I will share all I know later in this listing. First...this is a vintage Austin sculpture by artist Mark La Pointe. It is signed and dated 1981. It is in excellent/perfect condition. It is solid plaster, or a stone composite. It is quite heavy, about 12lbs ! It measures about 16 x 12 x 5. Shipping costs will be fairly significant for me, so please bear that in mind in regards to the price. There were/are quite a few vintage Austin sculptures in Maggies life, but this is the first one I have found with the actual, original "history card" on the bottom. That is kind of exciting! I left out " Austin" in the title listing because, as always...it is my hope this item stays within "our community". This piece is titles " Woman with Fawn". So...because these sculptures are collectible, for anyone not familiar with this sale or my listings, PLEASE know... I list in THIS particular category ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY for a good reason. This object is haunted and/or holds supernatural properties. There will likely be paranormal activity generated by the presence if you bring this item into your home. Maggies 70+ years of gathering this collection resulted in many, many rare, valuable, collectible items and antiques. My life would be much easier if I could simply list in the more conventional categories. This is a labor of love for me, but it is a labor. If you are a skeptic, I appreciate and understand that and I wish you Blessings. I am more than happy to respond to serious, respectful inquiries, but any snide, nasty messages will be ignored and reported if a line is crossed. Be nice or just move on! That being said... Sometimes I upload photos only to find orbs/spirit manifestation. The photos today, with this piece...off the charts!! I even took her outside for pictures after seeing the first batch and all the anomalies, ( I dont always like to share some of the crazy stuff I get on camera. Ask if you dont know why :) ) HOWEVER...the outdoor photos were even worse...better?? Mags always said Atoni attracts and possibly even calls to other spirits "like her"..and now I know that to be true for SURE!! (not that I doubted Maggie) So, I shared a few. Maggie explained to me once (or twice or ten times) the phenomenon of "displaced forest/nature dwelling spirits and beings". As man takes over the forests and deserts and even lakes and rivers that die because of our encroachment...it is not only the wildlife that is displaced and whole species of animals becoming endangered, but we also displace the population of nature spirits, elementals and human spirit dwellers. Some of these beings can traverse the realms, and simply never return to our realm. Others...are either bound to the earth or their paths require they reside here OR...it is a choice. Maggie spoke on this with great eloquence. I am not as gifted or knowledgable, so this is my own somewhat clumsy translation. Aponi is a human soul spirit. Her ancestry is Native American. Maggie channeled only two incarnations, but she notes she sensed there were others. More human life times. In those two lives' Maggie said her ancestry/heritage was the same, Native/ Indigenous American and even the area/location where she resided in those lives was the same, or close. When channeling, Aponi showed Maggie trees and rivers that were the same, but older, bigger, GROWN in her second incarnation. Hundreds of years in between, Maggie guessed. SO...those lives shared with Maggie may not have been consecutive. Maggie found it very interesting. While sharing images, visions and sensations of Aponi's AFTERLIFE, Maggie saw the old trees disappear, loggers floating trees down a river and eventually a dried up old river bed and a forest of tree stumps. These images gave way to houses and roads and telephone poles. Aponi dwelled, resided happily and even joyfully in the forest until the trees and rivers went away. THEN, Aponi took Maggie to a house where this sculpture sat in a window. There was an old man in a chair. He was dying. " Good man"..the spirit told Maggie. Maggie saw in her vision "a kaleidoscope of butterflies swarm the room, alighting everywhere and on the man in the chair..." The man knew of the spirit presence as he passed over and Maggie said she felt the love and gratitude. She knew then, also, why Aponi had chosen a vessel and why THIS one. Aponi means "butterfly" in a Native language ( I am not sure which one). Maggie found the spirit and the sculpture in 1996 in a second hand shop located in a "small town in Ohio, where I had a short term assignment" Maggie was a nurse and she specialized in end of life care/ Hospice. Her "assignment" was just that. She was caring for an elderly woman, but the job was shorter than expected. :( Mags had an incredibly strong draw to the spirit, she said and while she did not engage her until she was back at home, she mentioned once that she felt Aponi's presence very powerfully in her last days in Ohio. Maggie says in her log notes that this spirit is "all feminine energy and essence". She is an evolved soul and unlike many other "ancient Native female spirits" that Maggie engaged with, she said Aponi is uncommonly empathetic and nurturing. " Her rough edges have been smoothed by time..." Her essence is creative and her presence is inspiring. At the end of Maggies journal note, she wrote something very interesting. It only occurred to her as she documented, not years before when she first encountered Aponi. She said that in her own way, Aponi had given "hospice care" to the old man in the chair. And Maggie...was in the process of giving end of life car to an old woman when she was drawn to the spirit. " Hmmmm....." she writes"...something I should have considered." I think this is a wonderful offering. I am confident she will only go where she should. I dont know HOW I know that....but I do. I will add only this. To ME...this spirit can be a little spooky and eerie. I have had the sculpture in the house for three nights now. The feeling of being "watched"...is SO strong. Not bad...just spooky. I have heard very unusual noises at night that are "new"...only since she came in. They SOUND like birds...but that isnt quite right. I do not feel threatened, but she gives me chills sometimes. I think I am maybe a little intimidated. For the life of me, I cant recall WHERE Mags placed this sculpture in her house. I have seen it a million times...but where??? Hah!!! Ghosts! About Maggie's House Estate Sale In 2011 my dear friend Maggie, a respected and beloved spiritual medium left this world peacefully, at the age of 89. Maggie spent a lifetime accumulating unusual items, items that she believed have active attachments. Items that called to her, or came to her doorstep. She lived in the same little old house in my neighborhood for the last 52 years of her life. In her younger days she was an avid estate sale hunter and auction goer. She actively sought out items that she felt needed a "good home". She also did readings and home visits. She never charged for her services. Many of the items were given to her for safe keeping or as gifts. Spending the day or evening at Maggies house was always filled with mystery and activity, some of it confounding and sometimes, admittedly a little spooky! I met Maggie in 1994 while volunteering at local womens center, where Maggie was a devoted volunteer. Getting to know her was life changing experience for me. I came to view the universe in a completely different light. I spent the last years of Maggies life keeping her company and helping out with things around the house pretty much every day. We would spend hours and hours talking about many of the items in her collection and the history....and...the particular spirit attached to them, or what she was trying to figure out about a particularly mysterious item. She said sometimes these spirits communicated right away, others....she had to wait to find out who they were. It was fascinating. She was a brave and wonderful woman. About 2 years before her death, Maggie asked if I would take her beloved collection when she was gone and re home her tenants. Living with this collection has been VERY INTERESTING! It sometimes feels like my whole house is haunted, but I know it is not. It is the spirits "visiting" their beloved belongings. Maggie told me she believed that most of these spirits are not bound to the earth, some are, but most simply like to visit and spend time. A "visit" can last years or only weeks at a time, but they always come back time and again. I am not explaining it as well as Maggie. Each estate item I will list for sale certainly has value in and of itself, but they all come with a "bonus". When someone doesn't believe me, I say - spend one night in my house! And people have...and there are many more non skeptics out there now! Maggie had only one living relative, a grand daughter. This young woman is very sensitive and sweet but being around spirit activity is very frightening to her. She and I have agreed that i will auction off some of this collection and use the proceeds for a private, but benevolent endeavor. I am not a good photographer. Please ask for more photos or information if you like. Ask me any questions. I have copious notes and lists on this collection and will do my best. I am NOT a medium. I am, however, as Maggie put it, very open and sensitive. I have had direct interaction with many, many spirits visiting my home. Most....and in all honesty...not all.....but most...seem to be harmless. Many of the items will come in "spirit" boxes. Maggie stored many many smaller items on bookshelves in these boxes. I am bound by this site say that I am selling only an item. I make no guarantees of any intangible attributes. I will always take returns and offer full refunds if you are not satisfied for any reason with your new addition. I welcome questions and will do my very best to answer, but some of these items have no written history and I can only relate my own experience or what has been told to me. Please be serious and responsible when considering taking one of these very special items into your home. Thank you! What Maggie taught me and what I am now a firm believer in is this. When our physical bodies cease to function, the essence of us, our spirit, our soul, continues on with the journey. In life, as human beings, we become attracted to and attached to our "stuff". We have objects that we covet. It may be an item that holds good memories, or a gift from a loved one. Sometimes we keep even the items that may hold sadness for us. The blanket of a departed child or a belt that was used to hurt us. A departing spirit often becomes attached and/or attracted to an item that was somehow significant in a death. A stolen wallet or piece of jewelry, a cup that held the poison or the hammer that struck the blow. I believe it is more common place than any of us can imagine, how many inanimate objects have the constant or frequent accompaniment of a departed soul that the item was important to. Maggie was certain that more often than not, there is a definite purpose to an attachment. The object may be destined to go to a person who needs the benefits of a certain energy, sometimes many years down the road. Other times, a spirit is lost and seeking comfort and guidance. And quite often...a spirit is simply drawn to a beloved item from a former life because they like it. Maggie believed that most can freely pass between "realms" and are rarely stuck here. That being said, many of the items in Maggies collection are stuck or...choose not to leave for one reason or another. Our sense of time cannot really be related to "their" sense of time. I am required by this site to state that I make no claims of or promises of intangible attributes and I am selling an object only. The content of the listing is for entertainment purposes only. Please be 21 to purchase.
