A. BLOCH : Robert Bousquet & Degué A very rare French art deco lamp in nickel plated solid brass or bronze of excellent quality signed Bousquet. The base holds  nicely matching shades in molded-pressed glass. This model shade is never signed and was produced by Degué the famous company of David Guéron. I have it represented in my old Degué catalog. Robert Bousquet (1888-1917) was a sculptor who mainly made small bronze sculptures of animals. He designed his sculptures  between 1908 and 1914. Was a soldier during the first worldwar and died in the trenches in the north of France in 1917. After the war around 1925-1930 his works were cast in bronze in high volumes and these sculptures can often be found at auctionhouses or ebay. Bousquet also designed a lampbase. Around 1925-1930 the company of Adolphe Bloch (7-9 cité Popincourt, Paris) took it in production and over the years made three versions of it. At first it had one large oblong unsigned shade by Hanots. Not a perfect match but it looked acceptable. Bloch also made a smaller version for one small shade.  See the last picture showing the Hanots version in the old Bloch catalog. When around 1928 Degué designed his shades with pinecone pattern Bloch made this final and best looking version of the lamp using the Degué shades for the Bousquet base. A perfect match as if made for each other.  The first version with the  large Hanots shade had streight tubes where the Degué version has crossed ones with a pinecone decoration in the middle. Unlike the Bousquet sculptures these lamps are very rare. Over the last twenty years I saw only 7 or 8 of them and often with historical incorrect shades mounted on them.   The height of the lamp is 36.5 cm (14-3/8") and it's 33,5 cm long. On the outside the base is signed Bousquet. On the inside of the base we can detect the AB initials of Bloch stamped in the bronze.   The lamp is in excellent condition. I have replated and patinated the base.   It is rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord and is equiped with new european E14 sockets .. For the States I will wire the lamp with a US candelabra base sockets and US 2-prong plug. Free worldwide shipping offered - insured priority mail. Check out over 300 other French art deco lamps in my shop. French lamps and wiring Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer  lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia  French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets.  E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries.   An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures.  In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads.  All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country. 97260700
